5 OF 8Which skills get you hired?Clear spoken English, patience and basic computer skills.Full answer ▾

Employers look for calm, polite phone manner, fast typing and comfort with email and spreadsheets. Speaking Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo as well as English is an advantage, and some call centres hire specifically for one language. In the interview, expect to role-play an angry customer.

6 OF 8Can I work from home? Some roles are remote, but check them twice.Full answer ▾

Jobberman lists some remote customer support roles. “Work from home” is also the most common cover for scams: a real employer never asks you to pay for training, a laptop, software or a “starter kit”.

7 OF 8Can I move up?Yes: team lead and sales lead roles list ₦150,000–₦250,000.Full answer ▾

A Customer Service and Teams Sales Lead ad in Lagos showed ₦150,000–₦250,000 a month. Lead roles usually ask for more experience, and good results on calls or sales are what get you promoted.

8 OF 8How do I spot a fake job ad?Real employers never charge you to apply.Full answer ▾

Walk away if you are asked to pay for a form, training, a uniform, a test or a “starter kit”, promised high pay for little work, or asked for your BVN, bank PIN or OTP before you have even met the employer. Jobberman calls certification, background-check or set-up fees “a big red flag”. The EFCC has said it does not collect money from job seekers and asks people to report such requests at its nearest office or a police station.
